100% of profits from this range will go into designing the functional wear for conservation groups in the Pacific Islands.
We're in the business to help save and equip the Pacific Islands.
At Manulua, we acknowledge that all those living in the Pacific are under threat of losing their livelihoods and pristine lands due to adverse effects in climate change. We aim to use the resources we have - our business, our team, our investments, our voice and imagination to do something about it.

Manulua has grown out of a drive to see those who work in conservation and are based in the Pacific Islands to be well equipped to do their job. Our people living in the islands deserve the best resources and Manulua has its sight set to help make that happen.

We also have a passion to connect those who desire to connect back to the Pacific, but are not based in the islands. It's part of our vision to bring two groups of peoples together: one group being the those who are on the ground in the islands working in conservation and climate adaptation, and the second group being those who are not living in the Pacific but want to be connected and be part of saving and equipping the Pacific Islands. This is reflected in our name, Manulua, which means two birds in Samoan. The two birds represent those two peoples who will come together to focus on a common cause.

This is a Pacific Island centric long term project. When you buy something from Manulua you are investing into equipping those in the Islands who are fighting climate change.
To do this well we need a cool plan for the future. For that reason we have set some milestones that we have set for ourselves. However, before we get to them, we want to mention the most meaningful portion of our plan to us.
At this stage we are committing 100% of profits to providing high functional, high quality clothing to grass-roots conservation groups in the Pacific islands for free. These groups help restore the environment, prepare for rising sea levels and increased hurricanes and cyclones so their nation can adapt accordingly.
This commitment is unwavering and will take place whether we sell 1 tee or 10,000.

This can't be a one man band and we will need great people who share the same vision and values to enable Manulua to achieve its mission: to save and equip the Pacific Islands.

What is Manulua trying to achieve? There are two things Manulua is trying to do to save and equip the Pacific Islands. First, is providing people living in the Pacific Islands with the best tools to fight and adapt to climate change. Second, is to connect those who have a connection to the Pacific Islands, but aren't living in the Islands.

Who is the founder?Tom Va'afusuaga is Chief Caretaker of Manulua. This venture is his biggest and boldest vision yet. You can follow him on instagram @tomvaafusuaga.

How will you start achieving your vision?Solid question! The problem that we see is our Pasifika people aren't equipped with the right clothing and tools to do their job, we want to change that. Manulua has deep connections into Samoas conservation circles. There are many amazing grass-roots led organisations working hard to adapt to the negative efects of climate change. 100% of profits from the first drop of the Founders Series Tees, will be reinvested to design the functional clothing necessary. We already have the functional fabric, we just need to find and fund the right designer. That's where we will start from a practical point.
-
What kind of fabric will you use? This we will keep under wraps for now. Manulua has trialed a few fabrics and one stands out. This can change as we learn more and gain more expertise, but what we have we believe is far better than whats being used.
